The integrated Browser

Browse public research pages on desktop, save references, and add a safe page snapshot to Kosmo without sharing your browser session.

The integrated Browser is a research surface inside the macOS and Windows desktop apps. It keeps public pages beside your project files, papers, and notes without giving Kosmo access to your browser session.

Desktop only. The web app opens destinations in a normal browser tab. It does not embed the Browser in the workspace.

Browse inside the project

Open Browser from the project sidebar. The address bar accepts HTTP and HTTPS pages and search terms. Tabs have normal back, forward, reload, and stop controls.

Normal tabs return when you reopen the project. Private tabs stay on the device and are never restored. Bookmarks are also device-local, and you can import a bounded Chrome-compatible bookmark HTML export.

Downloads, popups, sign-in handoffs, and unsupported links open in the system browser. Remote pages cannot call Kosmico desktop commands or access its files.

Add a page to Kosmo

Choose Add page as context when a public page should inform your next message. Kosmico fetches the committed URL again on the server, removes scripts, hidden content, navigation chrome, and prompt-like page instructions, then prepares bounded Markdown.

The result is staged for your next message. It is not sent to a model until you submit that message.

This boundary matters for authenticated pages. Kosmo receives neither the live tab nor its cookies, storage, form values, or account session. If the same URL is not publicly reachable, the page cannot be added as context.

Add a paper to the project

On eligible DOI, arXiv, and direct PDF pages, choose Add to Literature. Kosmico uses the normal literature import flow so the paper keeps its source identity and can enter Deep Research, the bibliography, or a paper workflow.

The Browser does not replace Kosmo's own web-search tools. Use the Browser when you want to inspect and choose a page yourself. Ask Kosmo to search when the agent should discover sources for a task.

Privacy boundary

  • Kosmo cannot inspect an open Browser tab on its own.
  • Page context contains a cleaned public snapshot, not browser history or session data.
  • Private tabs and bookmarks remain device-local.
  • Embedded pages receive no Kosmico host bridge, and web permissions are denied.
